Helpful Information about Nooks, E-books, and Audio Books

We have 20 Nooks available for students to borrow.  Parent permission required.  To view the titles loaded on each device, click here.

E-Books through SMS Library

When you search a title in our catalog, if you see the E-book icon, you can read the book online or download it onto a Windows or MAC PC. You must be logged into your personal account on Destiny Quest.

Audio Books through SMS Library

A Playaway is a digital audio player pre-loaded with one audio book. Just plug in your own earphones or use the ones provided.  There are no CDs, cassettes or downloading of software.
Simply press the power button and listen to your  book.

E-Books & Audio Books through Westchester Library System

_Downloads are available to your PC, laptop, or and many personal devices such as Kindles and  smartphones. The first time you check out materials on this site, instructions will be provided for you to download the software you need.  Click here to access WLS's digital media catalog.  You will need a Somers Public Library card.
Would you like to tell everyone about a great book you read? CREATE A VOKI!!  Come and visit me in the library during your team time and I"ll help you create one. 

Here is a sample.  I made a VOKI about one of my favorite books, Graceling by Kristin Cashore. 

Get Yourself to
Help-a-Shelf
Do you need community service hours or just like the idea of helping out? Consider participating in Get Yourself to Help-a-Shelf.  This program allows you to take charge of one shelf in the library and keep it neat and organized.  Students are expected to check their shelves approximately once a week.  At the end of the school year, each student receives a certificate of volunteer service hours. 

Interested students need to attend a training session.
